Welcome to Ocean Knowledge, a show featuring news about the Arctic Ocean and Bering Sea from science to policy, climate, shipping and indigenous knowledge. Together we will understand and discuss the ecological and geopolitical changes to our homeland. We hear from agency officials, scientists, elders and indigenous knowledge holders. It is my hope that we are empowering residents, hunters, fisherman and fisherwomen in western Alaska with knowledge, updates and news on what matters to our way of life.
Megan Onders is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Indigenous Studies at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. She is a learner of Ugiuvaŋmiutun, the dialect of the King Island Native Community in the Bering Strait region. Megan holds a Master’s in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from George Mason University. She resides in Nome, Alaska.
